Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This Thanksgiving was so much fun.  I had to work on Thanksgiving day so all of our usual plans were changed.  For the first time in our entire marriage we spent Thanksgiving at my parents house.  It was wonderful to see my Grandpa and do the insane family dinner for Thanksgiving.  My parents were so great to push dinner back so I could be present.  It was great having Wesley and Hallie play together.  He learns so many things from his cousin it is amazing.  I am so thankful that Crystal and Danny have raised such a wonderful little girl who is willing to help her little cousin do things.  Friday morning my mother and I got up early and headed to Twin for some Insane Friday deals.  Black Friday nothing, those stores were nuts.  I did get some good deals, but people are crazy.  We went to the fireworks and lighting of the square in Rupert friday night.  Wesley loved the fireworks.  He calls them "booms".  The louder the boom the more Wesley liked them.
Saturday we left to go to the Boise area for our nephew, Daric's, ordination to the Aaronic Priesthood.  We spent Saturday afternoon and evening at Kyle's parents visiting and watching Wesley play with Parker and Kelly's children.  Wesley really liked playing until he got tired and hurt.  Then he was done and all he wanted was for Mom to hold him.  Sunday we went to church with Kyle's parents then went to Star for the ordination.  It was great to see so many people there to support Daric as he transitions into the priesthood.  Afterwards the whole bunch headed back to Jason and Angie's house for dinner.  All ten grandkids were in that house.  It was nuts.  Wesley loved spending time with all of his cousins.  Then we headed home.  Wesley spent the entire drive home asking about Duke and Caspi (our dog and mom and dad's puppy) or telling us "no way" when we asked him to try to take a nap.  He does not just say no anymore it is no way.  We are home safe and sound now and Wesley is down for the night.  He did get to see Caspi and Duke before he went to bed so he is happy.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and will have a wonderful Christmas season.

Lots happening!

We have been extrememly busy lately.  On Halloween we had our first family photo shoot with Dave.  By the way, Danny your dad is awesome.  The pics turned out wonderful.  Here are the ones of Wesley.

We also got some really good ones with either parent.

And the family pictures.

The day didn't stop there either.  That night was obviously Halloween so we got Wesley dressed up and took him trick or treating.  He cried when we first put his outfit on.  Once we went to the first house though he thought it was great.  By the end of the night he would grab the door handle and once the person opened the door he would start walking into their home.  He did really well and got a ton of candy even though we only went to 10 houses.  Kyle and I also dressed up so the whole family matched.

While Mom, Dad and Jennifer were in Post Falls they saw an ad for  English Springer Spaniel puppies that looked like Guapo.  They called the lady and saved the only male puppy for us.  Our new puppy got to Rupert at 1 am.  I stayed up to meet him and introduce him to his new home.  Dad said our puppy was very brave since he was the only boy of 8 puppies.  So we decided to name him Duke after the main character on GI Joe.  He is a very cute puppy and Wesley loves him.  We are still working on house training him and stopping the chewing.  He has a kennel outside and a dog house where he spends the night.  He has done so much better since he started sleeping outside.  Anyway, here is the last of the pics for this post.

Look at the size of that boy's head. It's like an orange on a toothpick.

Wesley had his 18 month check up yesterday.  He is 24 lbs with his shoes and coat on which puts him in the 25th percentile.  I think we may have skewed the data since he was fully dressed like he was going outside.  He is 32 inches tall which is a little above average and his head circumference is 19 inches which is in the 75th percentile, hence the title.  He cannot decide if he likes the doctors office or if he wants to cry.  Wes would be really happy for about 5 minutes and then he would cry for the strangest reasons.  Margarita (the nurse) leaving the room made him cry.  It was weird.  He does recover well from the whole experience though.  We went to Walmart afterwards to pick up a prescription for Wes and get Kyle's anniversary gift and Wes was a happy little guy.  We had to wait for the pharmacy and Wes was running around the cart giggling and talking to the other people in line.  He is an amazing little boy whose grandparents and aunts have given him a gigantic head.  Oh well, he is still cute.

Our new little one!

IT'S A BOY!!!  Jonathen Redd Meyers is due to be born March 21, 2010.  The ultrasound went great.  Wesley was really excited to see pictures of the baby.  We took him with us so he could understand the baby concept a little better.  The baby was pretty cooperative and it was pretty obvious that he was a little boy.  When we saw that it was a boy we told Wes, who automatically responded by saying, "girl".  I think we have finally convinced Wes that he will have a little brother instead of a little sister.  It took a little bit of work though.  It looked like the baby was healthy and doing well, but I will find out what Dr. Dowdle thinks tomorrow.  The technician was really trying to get a good shot of the baby's face so he could do a 3D picture.  The baby kept his hands in front of his face the whole time though so we didn't get the best picture, but we do have a few.  We are excited for our new addition and thrilled that Wesley will have a little baby brother to play with.

Big Week Ahead

This upcoming week is going to be busy.  Tomorrow is my ultrasound so we should find out if we will be having a baby boy or baby girl.  It should also prove Kyle wrong about his twin theory.  Kyle likes to joke that we will be having twins (one of each).  I think he is wrong and not funny.   Wesley has his 18 month check up next week so we will get to see how much he weighs and how big he is getting.  Then I have a Dr.'s appointment next week also so the doctors will keep us busy.  I will let everyone know when we find out the gender of our baby.

New words

Lately Wes has been trying to say new words. He has the basic ones like mommy, daddy, and pop pop down, but he is getting very talkative. Last night he was playing with his toy piggy bank that counts when he puts his coins in and when he put in the third coin Wesley yelled, "THREE" at the same time as the piggy bank. It was so funny. He threw his hands up in the air "Ta Da" and said three. I got to laughing so hard that he was giving me funny looks. Later, in the bathtub, he said it again. I was getting ready to sit him up from washing his hair and was counting to three and he said three with me. It is interesting that he choose the number three, but he seems to like saying it. He is also getting really good at some of his words that start with "P". He says pet and tries to say primary. He loves going to primary and tries to let us know. He is also really good at saying please. That is because it is a word his Mommy makes him say very often. He used to just do the sign language, but now he also says please at the same time. My favorite word that he says is "girl". Since I am pregnant we have been trying to get Wesley used to the idea of a baby brother or sister. Kyle asks Wes if Mommy is going to have a boy or a girl. Wes almost always says girl. The other day he gave Kyle a dirty look and growled girl at him almost like he is tired of the question. I say almost always because sometimes Wes does something obnoxious like barking or trumpeting like an elephant when Kyle asks. At least it is sometimes since he always trumpets like an elephant if we ask him what Aunt Elisa is having.

Back to work

I just started my job at Cassia Regional. Today is the end of my second week of work. It is great to be here. It is less stressful and I am really enjoying it. Kyle is on his way back. West Minico had it's retreat on Monday which is basically a day long staff meeting to discuss who will be teaching what classes and how they will work together. Kyle is probably going to be starting coaching middle school cross country tomorrow. I say probably because we have not heard if he has been approved yet. He will basically be Dad's assistant coach in charge of the middle school students. We are both just getting back into the rhythm of things. Wes will be going back to daycare soon. I don't think he will mind. He needs to see other people sometimes besides he likes his babysitter and he gets to hang out at the high school with Nana (his new name for Grandma Dawna).

Back from Vacation

A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a vacation and get away for a while. We went down to St. George, UT for three days, then spent one day in Ogden on our way back home. While in St. George we visited Brigham Young's winter home. The rest of the time we just kind of rested and shopped it was nice not to have to do anything specific. On Wednesday we started driving back towards Idaho. We went to Hogle Zoo that afternoon with Wesley. He really enjoyed looking at all of the animals. He did not enjoy statues of animals and would start to whine if we got to close to one. He also did not enjoy the misting water throughout the park. He would always cover his head and hide from the water when ever we got close to them. He probably enjoyed the cats and the monkeys the best. He thought the monkeys were silly. There was a small black footed cat that Wesley loved because it was still just a kitten. After the zoo we checked into a hotel in Ogden that was tremendously disappointing after staying in the condos for three days. It was functional though. The next morning we got up and went to the Ogden Dinosaur park. We were a little worried how Wesley would respond to the statues of dinosaurs since he had not liked the statues of animals. There was no reason to worry though because Wes absolutely loved it. He would even growl at the dinosaurs. It was really funny to watch him. The park was pretty neat. They had a museum inside that had dinosaur skeletons and some animatronic dinosaurs that moved and roared at each other. Out in the park they had dinosaur statues with little plaques explaining what type of dinosaur it was and when it lived and what it ate. It was interesting. They also had a playground with dinosaur slides and such. Wes seemed to enjoy the day. After the park we got back in the car and came home. Wesley really does not enjoy car rides. He does not sleep well in the car and gets grumpy since Mommy gets carsick and will not play with him. He was also really happy to see our home when we got back. It was a fun couple of days, but it is always nice to come back home.
I was home for another week or so before I started my job at Cassia. Monday was first day and Wes decided to run a fever and stay up all night Sunday night. I got about three hours of sleep prior to my first day and managed to wake up late. I was supposed to be at the Hospital at 7 am and I woke up at 6:41 am. I was only 4 minutes late though. I obviously had to eat in the car and had my hair in a ponytail but I was there. I did a lot better on Tuesday and was even 5 minutes early. Then again Wes did better also. It is nice to be home by 6 pm and spend some time with Wes before he has to get ready for bed. It is great to be at the hospital and enjoy my work more.
Kyle is gearing up to go back to school in a few weeks. He is just going to be teaching 7th grade History this year (last year he had one period of 8th grade History). We went in today (on my day off) and fixed up Kyle's classroom. Wes and I only get a few more weeks with Kyle at home everyday. Wes has loved having his daddy home for the summer. Oh well, such is life.

Our Growing Boy

Wesley is getting really big now. He is so excited to be walking. He walks everywhere he can right now. He is drinking out of a big boy cup and loves to eat big people food with Mommy and Daddy. He is getting really good at following directions. You can ask him for a kiss and he will lean in and give you a open mouthed kiss. He enjoys shutting doors and following Mommy around wherever he can. Wesley is falling asleep in his own bed at night with out me rocking him. He is also learning how to brush his own teeth. He loves to brush his teeth. Bath time and brushing his teeth are some of his favorite parts of the day. Wesley is learning words and jabbering to anyone who will listen. He loves the kittens at Grandma and PopPop's house. Everytime he sees a cat he starts yelling trying to get to them. We put Oliver & Company in for him to watch and he sat yelling at the TV and trying to grab the kittens. Kyle spent more time laughing at Wesley than watching the movie. Wesley also barks at pictures of dogs in his books and pops his mouth when he sees a fish. He is learning so quickly. He loves his books and loves having his Daddy home for the summer.

1st Summer Project Completed-Well Kind of

So on Kyle's first day off for the summer, our new shed was delivered. This is what it looks like. It matches our house really well, but it is only primer. That's why the job is only kind of completed because now comes the painting and putting an attic in it. That way we will be able to use the rafters and actually have some storage for all of our junk and other possessions. The other projects haven't really gotten started yet, but will be going there shortly hopefully.

Big News for Heather!

Heather yesterday was offered the managerial position in the pharmacy at Walgreens in Burley. It means more pay and maybe a few meetings, but she really shouldn't have to work any more than what she is now. She is really excited and nervous. She can't believe that just one year out of school she is already becoming a manager.

Let summer begin.

First off - I would like to point out that my husband is a dork. Today was his last day of school so he is excited for the summer vacation. Apparently it escaped his notice that nothing changes for me just because he is out of school. I get to continue working every other weekend and every other day. The only difference is that Wesley no longer has to go to daycare. Maybe Kyle will start working on the yard more, but that might be asking for a lot. We have a couple of trees that we need to get planted and we need to fill in the blank spots in our front yard. Our shed is being worked on and will probably get delivered next week. We need to get the back yard tilled under and finish our flower bed also. The fence would be the next big thing after that.
Wesley is now thirteen months old. He is amazing. He is walking like crazy. He has decided that it is funny to tease his Grandpa. He calls his Grandpa "Anpop", but only when Grandpa is not around. He will tell me all day about his "Anpop", but when Grandpa talks to him all Wesley will say is "Mama Mama Mama." Wesley thinks he is so funny. He loves to play the piano with or without someone else and absolutely loves books. He is likely to crawl all the way across the living room dragging a book so you will read it to him. His Grandma Reddington jokes that his cousins are going to come to hate that just like Grandpa Reddington's cousins hated when he got a book.
We need to try to plan a summer vacation, but we have not decided what that will entail. We mostly just need to get out of town for a while and enjoy ourselves. We need to get back and see Matt & Amelia sooner or later, but I don't know if this is the right year. They are really busy getting Matt set up with his new job and who knows when they will be ready for visitors. I guess we will see.
